Monday Night Call Etiquette
I have been getting comments from people who feel we are not dealing equitably with our callers on the Monday night call. Therefore, we are taking these steps to correct this problem.
1. Please submit all questions that are to be asked on the Monday Call to questions@nationallibertyallinace.org prior to the call. That will guarantee that your question is addressed and answered during the early part of the call. Also, that will help you get your thoughts together clearly and concisely as to what you want to know so you can write it in the email and will also ensure that your question is addressed during the call. Some people have been submitting long statements, up to 2 to 3 pages rather than questions. Please use the questions@nationallibertyalliance.org for questions only.
2. After the announcements, the questions submitted by email will be addressed. Next, are the topics for the evening and questions pertaining to the topic. Then we will move on to questions from the Queue for Q & A. Each caller can ask one question, get an answer, and then must get back into the Queue if they want to ask further questions. That will give the caller a chance to form a clear and concise second question if they choose, and it will ensure that every NLA member on the call that wants to ask a question will have a chance to do so each week. Some people have requested a time limit for each question, but hopefully, that should not be necessary as using this procedure should insure that we don’t have a long drawn out session with only one person. We will know better after several weeks whether a time limit will be necessary or not. This procedure will ensure everyone gets a chance to ask a question.
3. Sharing the questions between each caller will enable us to end the calls on time at Midnight eastern. Anyone left in the Queue can come back next week and get in the Queue at the front of the line when the Queue is opened.
4. Some people unmute themselves during the call and, as a result, add noise to the call. This interferes with the listeners being able to hear and understand what is being said and corrupts the recording, so we will be muting people as needed during the call. Please don’t feel you are being discriminated against if you are muted during the call as you may not even be aware that we are picking up background noise from you. We are muting you out of respect for all the other people on the call.
5. Your microphone volume level is settable on your computer or cell phone. I listen on a headset, as do many people, and some people on the calls have had their microphone gain setting so high that it is totally disruptive to all callers. Since I listen to the call on a headset, I have to either remove my headset or crank the volume down and then bring it back up as a response is given to the caller. I am getting calls and emails from people who simply walk away from the call at that point.
There is no reason that you need to talk much louder than anyone else on the call. Because of that fact, if you are an offender, we will be muting you and gently reminding you that your microphone gain is way too high and you need to lower your gain setting. If you are going to be part of a group, you need to respect the group.
